Haluk Eliş
Haluk Eliş has received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Turkish Army Academy, Ankara, Turkey in 1993. Dr. Eliş obtained M.Sc. degree in Management from the Systems Management Department in Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), CA., USA in 1999, where he ranked first in graduation, graduated ‘with distinction’ and received the ‘Outstanding Student Award’, the highest award given to a student. He has a PhD in Industrial Engineering that he completed at Bilkent University, Ankara, in 2017. He has taught ‘Statistics’, ‘Manpower Planning’ and ‘Management’ at the Army Academy between 2000-2002. In 2018-2019 academic year, he gave undergraduate (Stochastic Processes) and graduate courses (Mathematics of Operations Research, Stochastic Processes) in İzmir University of Economics. He is currently a part-time lecturer at Yaşar University, where he teaches ‘Case Studies in Operations Research’, ‘Decision Models’, and ‘Data Mining for Business Intelligence’. Dr. Eliş’ current research interests are the mathematics of Operations Research, and optimization theory and applications. As an example to his study of optimization studies, he located minimum number of guards (base stations, cameras etc.) on a piece of a terrain such that all of the terrain can be surveilled with no dead zone existing, and this study has been published in OMEGA. He had a chance to apply the OR techniques and models to the real-world problems faced by the Ministry of National Defense and by other firms.
